The balance of the scythe mowers make them extremely maneuverable and facilitate the mowing even in rough terrain. Thanks to the movable grass deflector, there is no grass left on the cover. The ESM blades of the AL-KO scythe mowers are specially hardened and therefore extremely durable.
Height-adjustable and vibration-dampened, the ergonomically shaped guide bar ensures an optimal handling on the ground and an easier transport. In addition, the grass deposit is improved by the shorter distance between the wheel and the scythe bar. In addition to the specially hardened knives with stepless height-adjustment runners, the AL-KO scythe mowers are characterised above all by their powerful drive.

History
Did you know … ? A brief history of the scythe mower Scythe mowers are modern agricultural equipment with a long history that goes back to ancient times. Pliny the Elder already described in his natural history of 77 AD a Gallic mowing machine, which consisted of a front open box with gripping teeth, was pulled by a donkey over the field and through the rows of corn.
The first motorised mower with reel and mobile blades was built in Scotland in 1826 and further developed in 1834 with the "Virginia Reaper". This device is very close to today's scythe mower: it was already equipped with the typical "fingers" and a saw blade. This device could only be used as a grass cutting machine when the triangular blades were installed from 1851 onwards. First of all, it was quite expensive in relation to human labor, but later it entered agriculture.
Thanks to lower prices and additional functions such as the possibility to convert to a snow clearing device, scythe mowers have now earned a permanent place in private gardens.
