All three AL-KO divisions "Vehicle Technology" "Gardening and DIY" and "Ventilation Technology" offer numerous environmentally-friendly products. One concrete example: our AERO Therm Composter has been awarded the "Blaue Engel", a label identifying especially environmentally-friendly products. AL-KO observes many environmentally-friendly details, starting as early as in the product design stage. Some examples:

• Our products are easy to disassemble, which makes for particularly environmentally-friendly recycling. For instance, the many plug-in connections rather than soldered connections facilitate the separation of different materials, which can then be disposed of separately.
  
  
• Saving energy also helps protect the environment! The AL-KO roller shredder, for example, consumes 30 per cent less energy than comparable products of standard design.
  
  
• By means of special housing shapes, the use of suitable materials and special blade design, AL-KO has succeeded in designing extremely low-noise lawn mowers, whose grass-collecting systems emit extremely little dust.
  
  
• AL-KO uses low-emission petrol engines in its lawn mowers and other gardening equipment. Many of these engines even satisfy California's strict environmental standard.
  
  
• AL-KO THERM hot-air heaters heat a room very quickly. Thus they do not need to run for long every day and energy consumption is reduced to a minimum.
  
  
• AL-KO tries to implement technical innovations in the interest of environmental protection as early as possible. Accordingly, we adopted the following two standards in our plants long before there was any legal obligation:
