At AL-KO environmental protection starts at the plant!
Environmental pollution can be minimised not only by modern, environmentally-friendly products but also by economic production technology. Whether it is a question of cleaner air, water treatment or the consumption of raw materials -- AL-KO is actively engaged in environmental protection right from the manufacturing stage. Some concrete examples:
- extractors for welding and machining equipment ensure cleaner ambient air and a healthy indoor environment at the workplace;
- the use of heat recovery systems in AL-KO plants goes without saying;
- we treat our waste water particularly carefully and pollution levels are well below the stipulated threshold values;
- the cooling lubricants used at AL-KO are regularly monitored by means of special measurements and, if necessary, adjusted in their make-up and consistency. Their service life is thus sometimes more than doubled. In the in-house cracking plant the "waste cooling lubricants" are split up into grease (special waste) and water. Once again, the quality of the water is always better than that prescribed by waste-water threshold values. At two facilities a 100% biodegradable low-quantity vegetable lubricant is used;
- we largely forego varnish coating of metal parts and prefer powder coating instead wherever possible. This saves raw materials and makes health-damaging solvings superfluous;
- at the new premises in Kleinkoetz, the motto "rail rather than road" has been implemented consistently by providing the shipping warehouse with a direct rail connection.
