Environmental protection has been an integral part of our corporate philosophy ever since 1976:

"Our companies must operate in such a way that maximum environmental protection is ensured. Everybody in the company can contribute towards creating an environment which increases the quality of life...
Energy and other raw materials should not be wasted. Each of us can help to achieve this goal."

From the very beginning, we have actually implemented these intentions. Our voluntary commitment in this area by far exceeds the legal requirements laid down in environmental protection laws. Today, we practice active environmental protection in three main ways:

• Environmentally-compatible product design
  At the early stage of product design and development, AL-KO technicians and engineers see to it that our products consume little energy, make little noise and create little pollution and that once disposed of, they are easy to recycle.
  
  
• Ultramodern production technologies
  AL-KO sets a good example by already practicing environmental protection during production: fewer and fewer problematic raw materials and energy-intensive production processes are employed. Wherever possible, they are being replaced by more modern and environmentally-friendly processes and materials!
  
  
• Honorary AL-KO environmental protection work group.
  Everybody should feel responsible for a clean environment -- our employees too! The AL-KO environmental protection work group collects suggestions from AL-KO employees on "in-house environmental protection" and sees to it that they are implemented immediately.
