The strategy The key principles of modern teaching and management education.  The training courses held by AL-KO College are based on modern educational methods. The objective: real understanding of the subject matter instead of learning facts off by heart! In order to achieve this, AL-KO College works according to six important principles:No know-how without know-why Training aimed at the pure aquisition of knowledge (know-how) is not sufficient. Learning how to take responsibility for one's own actions and being aware of the effects caused thereby is equally important (know-why). Employees must be able to apply what they have learnt while taking the respective situation into account. Practice takes precedence over theory Learning must always be based on concrete facts, be practice-oriented and enable the person who learns to apply his/her knowledge correctly. Conversations instead of lecturing The executive of the future does not lecture his employees in an authoritarian way but seeks conversations based on trust. This is the only way to promote mutual understanding, gain new insights and strengthen the employees' ability to pass on what they have learnt. Arousing individual interest Real willingness to learn only develops if employees feel personally associated with a subject. Knowledge, experience and the individual situation of seminar participants must be considered if superficial fact-learning is to be prevented. Define the goals of teaching and learning Lecturer and employees should have a clear idea of the goals. An approach which proved its worth in practice is to start with an overview of the subject, then to convey knowledge which can be applied in concrete cases, and finally to point out the associations connected with this knowledge. Constant improvement of personality People acquiring new technical knowledge should at the same time gain new insights, strengthen their concentration powers, learn to discuss in a constructive manner, become more tolerant, feel responsible for results -- to cut a long story short -- they should positively enhance their own personality. |
